Training: my training philosophy focuses on the integration of sport into your life. As I have learned from five years of world class level competition as a professional track cyclist, a training plan must account for a variety of factors: what sparks energy within you, what is an effective physiological stimulus, what you have time for, and what other life stressors occur beyond the scope of your training. Whether you are a competitive racer looking to increase your performance on the road or track, or a more casual cyclist looking to add structure and accountability to your riding, I would love to work with you. I am able to advise clients on training, tactics, nutrition, equipment selection, race program selection, aerodynamics and thermal regulation.
Background: I hold a BA in Biology from Bowdoin College, and have been fascinated by sports science and human physiology for much of my life. I am also a USA Cycling Level 3 Certified Coach. As a professional cyclist and a member of the US National Team, I am in frequent contact with riders and coaches from other national and WorldTour teams, often discussing new developments in training and the nuances of our sport. Having finished 4th in the points race at last year’s Track World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, I am currently training in pursuit of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Process: to effectively coach athletes, I use the TrainingPeaks coaching platform. I recommend a Premium plan but a Free plan can also work depending on your goals. TrainingPeaks is the software that is used to write training plans, analyze and give feedback for specific sessions, and look at general progress. A positive coach-athlete relationship is a prerequisite for success, so clear and honest communication is key.
